The Audubon Community Nature Center (ACNC) is awarding a total of $1,200 in prizes to the winners of its 2022 nature photography contest.

A mixed jury of professional and amateur photographers will designate a young person (8 to 18 years old) and an adult (19 years old and over) winners in the Wildlife and Landscapes / Aquatic categories. Each of these four winners will receive a cash prize of $200. The jury will also name three finalists for young people and three for adults.

Fauna includes any wild animal; no photos of animals in captivity, such as pets, zoos or rehab animals. Landscapes/waterscapes can be mountains, forests, fields, deserts, etc. ; or oceans, lakes, ponds, rivers, streams, etc.

Additional cash prizes of $200 will be awarded to the adult and youth photos receiving the most online votes for the Community’s Choice, and three each will receive finalist recognition. A photo can receive both Community Choice and a judged award.

The winning and runner-up photographs will be posted on the contest website along with the photographers’ names and cities of residence. The ACNC will print the winning photographs for display at the Nature Center, and the winners and finalists will be announced in a widely distributed press release, including in their local media when known.

The deadline for submitting photographs is Sunday, August 28. The earlier the photographs are submitted, the more the public can vote for them for the Community Choice award.
